Day 16 Reflection 05/11/18
Professional teaching skills and ability. Visual Aids - what went well
· The first year group were finishing up on their paintings for this lesson. As it had been over a week since I had seen them I felt it important and necessary to do a verbal recap on our unit of work since we had started. This encouraged the pupils to get motivated into their work once again for the last step in finishing their paintings.
· I had made a large scale Visual Aid on the AEDP Tone which worked very effectively as pupils from down the back could read the content and see the visuals. The pupils were impressed with the amount of ‘effort’ I had put into one piece of paper and began to ask more questions on the AEDP which made me very relieved and feeling accomplished. The fact that a visual aid spurred on so much discussion and enthusiasm was very rewarding. In future when making Visual Aids I will try to produce the biggest I can and hopefully have the same positive outcome.
· Classroom management – What went well.
· Classroom management has improved a small amount this week. I had to correct some pupils with AEN that they had to ask permission when leaving their seat to get materials (such as paint); of course this is completely understandable and pupils just needed a reminder. Afterwards pupils were asking permission and putting up their hands when needing advice or to ask a question. I think the pupils are now comfortable with me as their teacher and now are at ease, enjoying the experience of art.
