As it was my first day meeting the three year groups I was very nervous. All three teachers introduced me to the groups and it was a mixed reception from all. The transition year students were extremely excited and enthusiastic about me coming which was a nice welcoming. I introduced the theme to the group using visuals and video pieces on plastic pollution in the ocean and the effects it’s having on wildlife. Overall the whole group seemed interested in the overall project which was a great success

.

On day two the content of the lesson went well in the PowerPoint. Discussing the AEDP line on the board seemed to be very effective and engaging. They had some prior knowledge of the art element line and could discuss definitions which was very impressive. Pupils mentioned that line is a ‘never ending dot’ or a narrow mark starting at one point and ending at another. I then questioned them on the different types of line there may be in art which they answered perfectly (eg: Zig Zag, continuous, wavy, etc). I displayed an image of ‘Abbey Road’ the Beatles album cover and asked the pupils to discuss the lines in the image. Using this image seemed to be a good motivator, especially for one pupil who had told me three times since the start of the lesson he ‘hated art’. Immediately he told me the name of the album which I then began to quiz him on the art element line within the piece. He began to engage more in the lesson which was extremely positive.
